PUTTING YOUR SAFETY FIRST.

A former Red Cross Disaster Team Leader and certified first responder, Deborah acted quickly to provide practical relief after local disasters from tornadoes to ice storms, as well as the pandemic. She represented Garland on the regional Emergency Preparedness Planning Council and strongly supported the Garland police, firefighters, and emergency services.

As mayor, she will provide skilled leadership responses and support for first responders.

LISTENING TO YOU.

From the start Deborah invited Garland residents to talk to her, and they took her at her word. She successfully partnered with numerous residents, neighborhoods and businesses to identify concerns, find solutions, and make positive changes happen. Her years of experience as an interviewer made it easy for her to engage with people--and for them to engage with her.

As mayor, she will continue to listen and be guided by your collective voice.

KEEPING YOU INFORMED.

Deborah brought a new level of access to city information: City Connect newsletters to keep residents informed; regular social media updates; neighborhood troubleshooting meetings; and fast responses to messages. At Deborah's request the entire council was equipped with VOIANCE live phone interpretation services to enable conversations in all 70+ languages spoken in Garland homes.

As mayor, she will continue to improve communications with Garland residents.

GETTING THINGS DONE FOR YOU

As a City Council Member, Deborah responded to citizen concerns with solutions, not platitudes. Reduced homeowner costs for sidewalk repairs, senior tax relief, parking solutions, better communications, new walking trails, and more.

As mayor, she will continue her work for our community on an even larger scale.

At a private event on June 1st, 2024, Deborah Morris announced her candidacy for the office of mayor of Garland in 2025, when Mayor Scott LeMay will reach his term limits.
