Hon. David Gibbons
Former Garland City Council Member
I am excited to announce my support for Deborah Morris as the next Mayor of Garland. I have known Deborah since 2018 and served side-by-side with her on the Garland City Council. During her six years on council, she was a tireless advocate for the residents of District 2 and our city. I know her to be a servant leader who has both compassion for our citizens and passion to improve our city. Most importantly, I know Deborah to be a common sense, no nonsense, decision maker. She understands fiscal restraint, has fought to reduce taxes—particularly for our senior population—and never hesitated to scrutinize and question proposed spending of tax dollars. She has been an unwavering supporter of our first responders. She understands the need for public safety in protecting our neighbors in Garland. Deborah also has been a constant promoter of improving our quality of life in Garland. She understands the need to continue to fund needed repairs and improvements to our infrastructure—specifically the streets, alleys and sidewalks throughout Garland. And, from her involvement in the award-winning redevelopment of our downtown to the revitalization of our parks, recreation centers and libraries, Deborah has done all she can to improve our city and encourage every citizen to participate. I hope you will join me in supporting Deborah Morris as the next Mayor of our great city!
Hon. Annie Dickson,
Former Garland City Council Member
As a former Council member of Garland, l understand the commitment and unlimited responsibilities of an elected official especially one who truly cares. Deborah Morris is that person who can lead as Mayor of Garland. She always answers and returns calls and go beyond the status quo’s to address the concerns of her district and even issues citywide. I also commend the leadership she continues to show in our downtown area. She’s meeting the needs of our next generation like my 18 year old granddaughter, who with her friends enjoys the happenings in Garland downtown. I support Deborah Morris for Mayor of Garland because she’s already doing the work.
Hon. Jim Cahill,
Former Garland City Council Member
Hon. Kris Beard,
District 2 City Council Member
William (Bill) Oaks,
FCCS(SW) US Navy Ret. Guided Missile Systems Chief Vietnam Veteran
The term “Homer” is used in sports to describe someone who is unabashedly for their home team. Deborah Morris is a true Garland Homer. She is enthusiastic, a great communicator, and dedicated to improving our city as well as Garlands residents. Deborah separates her politics from her commitment to her constituents. In her years on the City Council, she consistently went over and above to perform her duties. As a 35-year resident of Garland, I’ve seen the city go through good times and some not-so-good times, but I’m certain that when elected, Deborah Morris will lead Garland into a new era of good times, excellence, and prosperity.
Richard L. Buquet II,
President/CEOHabitat for Humanity of Greater Garland, Inc.
It is my pleasure to personally endorse Deborah Morris to be the next Mayor of Garland. I’ve known Deborah since 2017, when I first took the helm at Habitat. Initially, I only observed her from a distance, as she seemed to be at every public event I attended. Soon, I came to know her personally to be a woman of great integrity, intelligence, diplomacy, wisdom, and kindness. Deborah faithfully served District 2 where we’ve built half-a-dozen homes, and she always appeared at the home dedications applauding our work and welcoming the new citizens to Garland. Her dedication to public service is unparalleled, as is her energy and determination to do all she can to improve life in Garland for everyone. I’ve met many wonderful people over these past 7.5 years, but no one who has the love, care, and concern for the citizens of Garland, like Deborah Morris has. Her election as Mayor in 2025 would be a great gift to the city, as Garland would benefit in a multiplicity of ways from her servant-leadership.
Leslie Montena
Owner, Epiphany Gallery
When I opened my business, Epiphany Gallery, I encountered a significant challenge that threatened to hinder my progress. I reached out to Deborah, and she immediately took action. She brought my concern to the city council, and they worked collaboratively to resolve the issue by updating city policy. This wasn’t just a temporary fix; it was a meaningful, lasting solution. Because of Deborah’s efforts, my business is now thriving, and I am deeply grateful for her support. Deborah Morris is a leader who truly listens and delivers results. Her commitment to creating practical solutions and improving the lives of those in Garland sets her apart. I am grateful for her dedication and know she will continue to serve with integrity and purpose.
Ken Herman,
Owner, Sky Eyes Aerial Marketing
I am proud to endorse Deborah Morris for Mayor of the City of Garland. As my former Councilwoman, Deborah demonstrated a deep commitment to our community, particularly in her work with and support of first responders, city planning, and enhancing the vitality of our neighborhoods. Her hands-on approach and dedication have made a tangible difference in the lives of many, including mine. She also helped us create a more unified and effective neighborhood association, bringing our immediate community closer together. We are better informed and educated on so many topics thanks to her leadership. As a business owner, I have personally experienced Deborah's unwavering support. She played a pivotal role in helping me connect with the broader community, plugging me into city activities that have allowed my business to grow. Deborah has consistently shown that she is a leader who listens, cares, and acts with integrity. Her vision for our city is one that prioritizes safety, growth, and community, and I believe she is the right person to lead us into the future. I wholeheartedly support Deborah Morris for Mayor and encourage my neighbors to do the same.
Dr. Mary A. Brumbach, CFRE
Chief Strategy Officer, Dallas College
Deborah Morris is a proven servant leader, combining her expertise in crisis management, business and finance, community development, and planning with exemplary skills in communication and compromise. Her years of service as District 2 Council Member have been distinguished by timely information, clarity and integrity, solution to problems, and accessibility to her constituents. As the District 2 representative, she has always balanced the needs of District 2 with the larger possibilities of the City of Garland—which is rapidly becoming one of the finest cities in the region with economic vitality and development, a rich and varied employment base, affordable housing, civic amenities ranging from recreation to healthcare, a broad and diverse population, and strong relationships within the DFW region. Choosing Deborah Morris as the next mayor of Garland will be a wise investment in the future of the city and its people, one that I welcome the opportunity to endorse.
Carlos Porras,
Downtown Garland Property Owner
Deborah Morris has spent many years advocating for District 2 and The Downtown Garland area. As a local City Councilmember, she worked diligently and advocated to make her community stronger. She has a deep commitment to improving the downtown area and has provided businesses with the right resources for success. During the square renovations she was quick to keep us informed and involved with what was going to happen next. Always being available for comments and questions was greatly appreciated. She tackled challenges in a thoughtful way and made things happen. She makes sure that the voices of the residents and businesses are heard. I have enjoyed working with her in the past and look forward to working with her in the future. We would be blessed to have her working for us as the next Mayor of Garland.

I stand firmly by Deborah Morris as Mayor for the City of Garland. Deborah worked tirelessly while serving on Garland’s City Council and as Mayor Pro Tem for the betterment of our city. She understands our local government and follows a high standard of ethical conduct. She is an excellent communicator as well as a good listener who is involved with the citizens of our community. Deborah will carefully analyze a situation, then fight for what she believes to be in the best interest of our city. Deborah Morris has my vote.

The official website address for Deborah Morris’s campaign information page is “MorrisForGarland.com”. However, in our opinion, a more apt address might be “MorrisForGarlandResidents&Neighborhoods.com” as it would capture more fully the core both of her past accomplishments on the City Council and of her future priorities as Mayor – “a concern for the individual residents of Garland and the neighborhoods in which they live”. In 2022 and again in 2024, we experienced first hand Deborah Morris’s attentiveness, responsiveness, and effectiveness in addressing and helping to resolve 2 separate issues that dealt with the safety and betterment of our neighborhood. As Garland residents of 36 years, we unreservedly endorse Deborah Morris for Mayor.
Debbie Rima,
President of GLOWS Community Lighthouse
My name is Debbie Rima, and I am the President of GLOWS Community Lighthouse (“GLOWS”), an organization that works with the unhoused, providing emergency shelter during extreme weather, feeding weekly meals, and working with other organizations to provide services to those in need. When I first took over running the GLOWS operation in 2017, we were really struggling. We had no money, no volunteers, no idea what we were doing. We just knew there were human beings out there who were hungry and needed life-saving shelter during periods of extreme weather Then, I was introduced to City Councilwoman, Deborah Snyder Morris. Deborah took me under her wing. She provided valuable connections with people much more knowledgeable than I am to assist with getting our organization up and running, and she gave me the guidance and suggestions I needed to make our mission succeed. Deborah was passionate about our work because while she has a love for all of Garland’s people, she had a special place in her heart for those who have met with misfortunes and who just need a hand up. But Deborah also helped us understand there must be balance between helping those on the street, while also respecting the needs and rights of the taxpayers of Garland. As a Garland City Councilwoman, Deborah’s strength and leadership were never more prevalent than during the big storm of February 2021. While the entire City was struggling with power outages, record low temperatures, ice/snow and shortages of all kinds, Deborah continued to keep the lines of communication open with me as we took in, housed and fed approximately 135 people from the streets over an 11-night period. I doubt Deborah got much sleep over that long period, but she always answered my calls and listened to our needs. If she could help with services, she did. If she was not able to offer City services, she would suggest alternate ideas. There was no doubt Deborah was doing the same for every other Garland citizen contacting her for help. She was an amazing leader who truly helped her constituents get through this particularly trying time. Deborah Snyder Morris has a real love for Garland and its citizens. She makes herself available to any Garland resident who has a question, complaint, or problem via all forms of communication, including phone, email, social media and an open-door policy. Deborah works tirelessly to be the voice of Garland’s citizens and to represent our best interests when she is participating in the decisions that help improve our beautiful City. I was very excited to learn Deborah Snyder Morris planned to run for mayor of Garland. I cannot think of a better leader for our great City and one who will continue to be very dedicated to making Garland one of the top cities in which to live and work.
Manuel Ojeda,
Vietnam Veteran, 50-Year Garland Resident
Deborah Morris is a compassionate person, that helps many people on her own time. She believes in helping people. In my fifty years I have lived in Garland, she has done a lot more than any other Council Member in our District. I know that she can be a great asset to our City as our Mayor.

I have changed my cover photo to show my support and endorsement of Deborah Morris for Garland Deborah Snyder Morris for Mayor of Garland. Scott LeMay has done an excellent job and his term is ending. I have gotten to know both Scott and Deborah on a professional and personal level. They are amazing humans who truly care for people and do their best to serve us Garlandians every day. Deborah Morris is the right person to continue leading Garland as Scott Lemay finishes his term. When my wife and I moved to District 2, we had an issue voting from my vehicle as a disabled citizen. There was no sign at the voting place instructing us on how to get in contact with someone on voting from the car. We reached out to Deborah through social media and she contacted the polling location for us. She also gave us her personal cell phone number and said if we have a problem to contact her and she would come down there if necessary to ensure that my vote was counted. She did not know me nor who I was voting for, but made sure I had equal access to all the services I was entitled to receive as a disabled citizen. Throughout her term on the council, she fielded a lot of my questions, even if they were trivial. She never treated my questions as trivial but always provided a professional answer. She is always present on social media and is the most transparent elected official I have ever known. Her knowledge of every aspect of city government is outstanding. I don't know of any other person who knows as much about this city as Deborah Morris. For what it is worth, she has my full support and endorsement.
